SPAR Free Vouchers/Survey/Jobs Scam

08 August 2022

WE ARE NOT OFFERING JOBS IN EXCHANGE FOR A R250 FEE

A link has been doing the rounds on social media with information about SPAR seeking applications for the role of cashiers or packers. The website asks for applicants to pay a fee for a Background Check of R250 through PEP store payments. This offer is not through the official SPAR Group and is a scam.

If you are ever in doubt, contact SPAR Customer Care on 0860 313 141 or ask on the My SPAR Facebook page.

WE ARE NOT GIVING AWAY FREE VOUCHERS!

Dear SPAR customers, There are currently a number of scams affecting shoppers around the country. To help you remain alert to these threats please keep a copy of the below points with you, and check them whenever you are unsure about whether something seems too good to be true. If you are unsure of any of the below points, it could be a scam.

  • SPAR will not randomly call or Whatsapp you to enter a competition or complete a survey. None of SPAR's competitions work in this way.
  • Can you find the competition on www.spar.co.za or on our Facebook page?
  • Did you enter the competition in store or via the SPAR website or Facebook page?
  • Do you need to supply your banking details?
Don’t do it! SPAR will never ask for banking details via Whatsapp or SMS or by phone call.

You can only be a winner with SPAR Rewards if you have:

  • Swiped your SPAR Rewards card in store.
  • Entered your mobile number at the till point in the process of a SPAR Rewards transaction.

Be careful of links!

  • Any communication where you need to click a link that does not include ‘spar.co.za’ is a scam.
  • If a URL link looks strange or ends in ‘.com’ or something similar do not click the link. For example, the scam above comes from creditogratis.club.
